Finally have the chance to pay a visit to the Bird Park. Its been a long while since I step in there although I have always wondered how much it has changed. It has changed ALOT since I last been here.

Jurong Bird Park - Entrance

There are so many kinds of birds waiting for you the moment you step into the park.

The whole park is divided into different parts and themes. One of the main attraction theme is the Lory Loft. This is the world's largest Lory Flight Aviary. There is the two-tiered central feeding tower where visitors have the opportunity to feed the birds by hand with a special nectar mixture. This amazing experience increases as throngs of lories gather to feed.

There is also a man made waterfall in the African Waterfall Aviary. Its a magnificent sight especially for Singapore where you do not have such a natural waterfall.

It's a great place to spend a nice morning and afternoon immersing in the various species of birds. There are also various bird shows available in the park to entertain you.

Sleep: Phuket - Marriott Mai Khao Beach

I was invited to visit the Marriott Mai Khao Beach in Phuket, Thailand thanks to my friend's invite. The weather not as welcoming as the resort as we have to spend an hour going round and round in the sky as the visibility down at the airport was too low for landing. Luckily we manage to land and proceed on with our vacation with the sky still drizzling.

Their airport transfer send us right to the lobby and was given a warm welcome by their staff. Checking in was a breeze and soon we are on our way to our rooms. The first word from opening the room was "Wow!". The size was huge and its a 2 bedroom apartment suite.

Marriott Phuket Beach Club - Kitchen

The apartment came with a kitchen that was fully equipped with almost everything you can ask for. From Pots and pans to plates and utensils. Not forgetting oven, coffee makers and even rice cooker.

Marriott Phuket Beach Club - Dining & Living Area

As we move inwards, it will be the dining area and the living area. The place was very cozy and a nice place to have a nice indoor dinner.

Marriott Phuket Beach Club - Guest Room

We proceed to explore the guest room. It was the biggest guest room that we have seen so far. It came with 2 queen size bed. They even got their own attached bathroom.

Marriott Phuket Beach Club - Master Bedroom

Next stop would be our room which is the Master Bedroom. It came with a king size bed that its very comfortable. There is also a couch for you to laze on.

Marriott Phuket Beach Club - Washroom

The master bedroom washroom features a huge bath tub that can fit 2 person. Basin at each side of the room so that you and your partner can each of your own space. There are also shower and toilet area.

Marriott Phuket Beach Club - Additional Views
The apartment also comes with a huge balcony. Their service room is also within the apartment. The best thing is other than the washing machine and dryer, it comes with detergent as well. If you are lucky and gets the bottom floor suite, you will even have your own private pool.

The resort also comes with lots of activities for the families. The location is pretty exclusive therefore its located further away from the usual buzzing area and crowd. To travel to the famous Patong beach in Phuket from the resort takes you roughly 45mins drive. Overall the resort is a nice place to spend time relaxing and just enjoy the facility.

Shop: Singapore - Sim Lim Square

Sim Lim Square
Sim Lim Square is a paradise for those are looking for computer hardware and other electronics items. Covering 6 floors, you can find items like motherboards, graphic cards to mice and keyboards. Lower floors will get you other electronics items like cameras, camcorder and LCD.

However in order to get the best deal, it will be advisable to find out the price range of the items you are getting either from going to a few more shops or through the net. If you are looking for computer parts, the shops will usually have price list placed outside the shop which you can take for reference.

The place is also made infamous by some black sheep so do exercise caution when making the purchases. One way is to look out for the STARetailer logo. If you have bought an item from a shop showing the logo and you felt short changed in certain way, feel free to go to the Sim Lim Square Information Counter to clarify. Shop: Singapore - Haji Lane

Haji Lane

Haji Lane is found within Arab Street which is by itself a lively district that is full of Islamic history and culture. A few years ago, Haji Lane was just another strip of outdated shop houses. Now small boutiques has occupied the once quiet area.

Haji Lane - Shops
If you are into alternative labels or unique style then the boutique here is for you. The owners of these shops either design their own label or purchase it all over the world. There are also those who provide a space for blogshop owners to showcase their wares in a physical shop. This is definitely a different shopping experience.

Haji Lane - Shop houses
However what you can find here is not limited to clothing. There are also cafes and bakery. One thing to note will be the shops here usually open after 11am, therefore make sure you come at the correct timing.

Eat: Singapore - K ki ケーキ

This little shop is tuck away in a corner at Ann Siang Hill. First impression of the place is the bareness of the shop. Housing only 1 outdoor table and 4 indoor tables. It gives you the cozy feel. Patience is a must if you want to sit down and enjoy the cakes. Rest assured that the patience will pay off. K ki is the cakes version of fine dining serving freshly made variety of cakes.

The first cake we order was the Kinabaru. The cake is layered with coconut mousse, passion fruit crème and finished off with a soft chocolate base. Upon the first bite, the tanginess of the passion fruit will first hit your taste buds before a subtle coconut aftertaste follows through.

Mont Blanc, named after the mountain in France is a chestnut-flavoured cake. Enclosed within the brown swirls is the chestnut puree. Having a mouthful, the chestnut taste does not overpowered you yet you can chew on the bits and pieces of chestnuts. Everything was smooth to the taste.

My personal favourite is the Little Red Riding Hood. A must have for chocolate lovers. Within the cover layer of dark chocolate are chocolate mousse and raspberry filling. The raspberry's sourness is a perfect complement to the dark chocolate's bitter taste. The chocolate mousse within is rich in chocolate yet not too sweet. Everything is in perfect balance.

The cakes average $8 per piece. It's on the high side but definitely worth it.
